Guzi glossary
The vocabulary you need to read a 受注 window: formats, sale types and the slang Chinese collectors actually use.
Basics
- 谷子gǔ ziguzi (merch)
Slang for ACG merchandise, from the English word "goods" via Japanese グッズ (guzzu). Covers badges, stands, plush and any other tie-in product.
- 官谷guān gǔofficial merch
Merch produced or authorized by the IP owner. GuziBase only tracks 官谷.
- 同人谷tóng rén gǔfan-made goods
Unofficial merch created by fan artists, sold at doujin events or small shops. Fan-created, not official — and different from pirated goods.
- 吃谷chī gǔbuying guzi
Literally "eating guzi" — buying and collecting merch. Spend past your budget and you are jokingly 吃土, "eating dirt".
Formats
- 吧唧bā jībadge
From Japanese バッジ (bajji, "badge"). A small tin or acrylic pin — the most collected and most affordable guzi format.
- 柄图bǐng túartwork pattern
The specific illustration printed on a badge, stand or other item. One character can have many 柄图, and collecting them all is a big part of the hobby.
- 谷美gǔ měidisplay props
Props, trays and lighting used to display guzi and photograph it well.
How it is sold
- 受注shòu zhùmade to order
Short for 受注生产: orders open for a fixed window — often two to six weeks. Production starts after the window closes and shipping comes weeks or months later, so runs stay small. Miss the window and you wait for a re-release.
- 预售yù shòupreorder
Ordering goods before they are produced. Similar to 受注, often paired with a deposit (定金) and a balance payment (尾款).
- 通贩tōng fàngeneral sale
Regular online or in-store sale open to everyone — the opposite of event-only (场贩) or lottery (抽选) sales.
- 场贩chǎng fànevent sale
Merch sold only at a physical event such as Bilibili World or a concert. Limited stock, and hard to get outside China.
- 抽选chōu xuǎnlottery sale
Purchase by lottery: register in the entry window, winners are drawn, and only winners can pay. Used when demand far exceeds supply.
- 现货xiàn huòin stock
Ready stock that ships immediately — no production wait.
Process & slang
- 尾款wěi kuǎnbalance payment
The final payment after a deposit. Miss the 尾款 deadline and the order is cancelled, usually with the deposit kept.
- 拼团pīn tuángroup buy
Fans pool orders to share shipping or reach bulk pricing. Group buys are fan-run, not official — vet the organizer before paying.
- 海景房hǎi jǐng fáng"sea-view apartment"
Slang for a rare item whose resale price is absurdly high — selling it could supposedly buy you a sea-view apartment.
